Database-driven plant guide

Pet-Safe Flowering Houseplants

Wanting flowers does not require guessing from a plant's common name or assuming every flowering houseplant has the same pet-safety profile.

This guide contains current PawPlants records that are classified non-toxic to both cats and dogs and carry the governed flowering trait. Each entry links to the underlying plant record so you can see exactly which botanical identity the conclusion covers.

How this population is governed

This list is derived from the current PawPlants governed plant database. Inclusion requires a published record, a current Non-toxic classification for both cats and dogs, and the exact governed Flowering discovery trait. It is not a comprehensive list of every houseplant in existence.

Non-toxic does not mean risk-free or intended for ingestion. Chewing plant material can still cause irritation, choking or gastrointestinal upset. Use each linked plant record for the governed botanical identity and evidence scope.

Compare governed overlaps

These groupings use only other traits already present in the same governed records. They are comparison aids, not rankings.

Flower names can be misleading

Similar common names do not establish botanical identity or pet safety. PawPlants therefore qualifies plants by their governed records rather than by words such as “lily,” “jasmine” or “violet” alone.

For example, the Peruvian Lily record in this guide is a governed Alstroemeria aurea record. It should not be treated as evidence about true Lilium species.
