Think about reach first
Before choosing a spot, look at the room from your pet's point of view. Nearby furniture, window ledges, crate tops, and side tables can turn a safe-looking shelf into an easy jump.
For the full guide list, see plant safety guides.
Better places for plants
- Use stable shelves that pets cannot climb to from nearby furniture.
- Keep hanging planters high enough that leaves do not trail into reach.
- Avoid floor corners where dogs run, play, or turn quickly.
- Keep saucers and trays clean so pets do not drink runoff water.
